Effective June 30, 2022, the registration procedure for Food Supplement notification in Italy has changed.
With a note published on December 27, 2021, the Italian Ministry of Health announced that the old Food Supplement Registry will no longer be published; instead the only registry available will be the one on the Ministry of Health website, which includes only the products that have been registered using the online procedure.
Apart from the registry, the Ministry of Health announced that the paper procedure for Food Supplement registration will no longer be available, and that digital procedure is the only one recognized.
This change was already expected: in 2018, a Ministry note communicated that the digital notification platform was already active, and that the notification for specific groups of Food Supplements must be completed online. The deadline for a complete transition to the digital platform was initially set for 2019, then delayed to June 30th 2022 to facilitate the passage.
